Hunza Royal

Six days in the valley that taught the world the word 'longevity'.

Hunza Royal
Duration
6 days

Hunza Royal is a six-day private journey through Karimabad, Attabad and the Khunjerab Pass: five nights split between Serena Hunza's terraces and a water-facing suite at Luxus Attabad, a private convoy on the Karakoram Highway, and dinners arranged where tour groups never sit — Eagle's Nest at first light, Altit's royal garden after close.

Highlights
  • Five nights: Serena Hunza (Karimabad) + Luxus Attabad water suite
  • Private sunrise access at Eagle's Nest viewpoint, 2,850 m
  • Khunjerab Pass day — the world's highest paved border crossing, 4,693 m
  • Boat crossing of Attabad Lake with the story of 2010 told by a survivor
  • Baltit and Altit forts with the curator, not the queue
The itinerary

6 days, composed.

  1. 1
    Up the Karakoram Highway

Private convoy from Gilgit airport through Rakaposhi's viewpoint — 7,788 metres framed in your windscreen at tea. Evening arrival at Serena Hunza.

  2. 2
    The two forts

Baltit Fort with its curator before public hours, lunch in Altit's royal garden, apricot orchard walk through Ganish, the oldest settlement on the old Silk Road.

  3. 3
    Eagle's Nest at first light

Pre-dawn drive to Duikar. Sunrise touches Rakaposhi, Diran, Golden Peak and Ultar in sequence — you'll have the terrace privately for one hour.

  4. 4
    Attabad & the bridges

Move to Luxus Attabad's water-facing suite. Afternoon boat across the lake born of the 2010 landslide; walk the Hussaini suspension bridge if you dare.

  5. 5
    Khunjerab, 4,693 metres

Up past Passu's cathedral cones and Sost to the Chinese border — snow leopards' country. Oxygen and a doctor-checked itinerary pace the altitude.

  6. 6
    Down-valley farewell

Slow morning on the water, then convoy to Gilgit for your flight — or extend into the Skardu Signature; the road east is ours too.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do we reach Hunza to start the tour?

Most guests fly Islamabad–Gilgit (50 minutes) where your convoy waits; the full road journey up the Karakoram Highway can be arranged as a two-day extension with a night in Besham or Naran.

Is Khunjerab Pass safe at 4,693 m?

The pass is a paved drive, not a trek. We carry oxygen, pace the ascent with stops at Passu and Sost, and our vehicles are equipped for the altitude. Guests with cardiac conditions should consult a doctor first.

When is the best time for this tour?

April brings blossom, June–August full green and open passes, October the famous autumn golds. Khunjerab is reliably open May–November; winter versions run down-valley with Attabad frozen scenery.
